Israel Advances Cautiously in Ground Op

CBNNews.com - ISRAEL-GAZA BORDER - Israeli forces are moving cautiously in their war on Hamas, knowing that the casualties will grow in the dense northern Gaza neighborhoods.

Friendly fire incidents Monday killed four Israeli soldiers and wounded two dozen more. But Israel's defense forces reportedly killed at least 100 from the Hamas military wing.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak told Knesset members Monday that the army is making progress here in the field, but he also warned that the most difficult times for the operation could lie ahead.

Despite the military success, 40 rockets pounded a wide area of Israel around the Gaza Strip on Monday, and more rockets are falling today. One wounded a three-month-old baby.

Releasing Fear

a4_99999421The power and authority the apostles received began to touch lives at every turn. Their ministry was followed by "many signs and wonders...among the people" (Acts 5:12). And what was the result? "Believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women" (v. 14). The signs that followed the coming of the Holy Spirit led people directly to Christ. That's an important fact to remember.

What happened in the Upper Room was not a one-time experience, nor a footnote of history. The Spirit-filled believers established an ongoing relationship with the Holy Ghost. They continued to be filled. When Peter was called before the Sanhedrin over the healing of the beggar, they asked "By what power or by what name have you done this?" Peter was "filled with the Holy Spirit" when he spoke (Acts 4:7-8). Not past tense, but present tense. "Filled" describes the apostle at that very moment.

Prepare for Spiritual Battles

We are facing greater spiritual battles today than ever before. There has been a release of demonic activity on earth during the past twelve months that is unseen in world history. And we are going to see an even greater release of demonic activity during coming months.

These are more than physical battles. This is spiritual warfare. What is happening in the Middle East and throughout the world is spiritual.

Closer to home, we are fighting a spiritual battle for the souls of family members and loved ones.
